Two police officers with the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office were shot on Colorado Avenue in Lorain, Ohio, on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred at the intersection of Colorado Avenue, Missouri Avenue, and Henderson Drive, leading to a significant police response.

Heavy Police Presence and Lockdown
Following the shooting, there has been a heavy police presence at the scene. Horizon Education Centers, located nearby, was placed on lockdown, with no one allowed in or out of the building, as reported by News 5 Cleveland. Police are redirecting traffic on Colorado Road at Root Road as they manage the situation.
Ambush Incident: Officers Under Fire
The violence unfolded when three Lorain police officers responded to a call reporting shots fired. Upon their arrival at the Colorado Industrial Park near Missouri Avenue, they were met with gunfire from a suspect hiding in a tree line.
Authorities confirmed that two of the officers are currently in critical condition and were transported by medical helicopter to a Cleveland area hospital. The third officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment.
Suspect Reported Dead
According to the Lorain Mayor, the suspect involved in the shooting has died. Lorain Police Deputy Chief Michael Failing reported that there is only one suspect connected to the incident.
