A newly released documentary has revealed a surprising posthumous appearance by conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated just over a week ago while speaking at Utah Valley University.
The film In Whose Name?, directed by first-time filmmaker Nico Ballesteros, shows Kirk in a 2018 meeting with rapper Kanye West (now 48, known as Ye) and commentator Candace Owens, according to The US Sun.
Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, remained mostly silent in the brief scene as Owens and West discussed their experiences as Black public figures. At the time, Owens was serving as communications director for Kirk’s organization.

Kirk was shot in the neck on September 10 during the opening stop of a Turning Point USA tour in Orem, Utah, and died shortly afterwards.
The documentary was released on September 19, just nine days after the assassination. Ballesteros, 26, told the New York Post: “It’s unfortunate, and may they rest in peace, but there are people in the film who are no longer here with us.”
Police have charged 22-year-old Tyler Robinson with Kirk’s killing. Prosecutors note the case could carry the death penalty if he is convicted. Officials believe the shooting was politically motivated, with Robinson described as the only left-leaning member of a Republican family that supported Donald Trump.

West told Trump adviser Jared Kushner in a phone call recorded in the film: “I’m not going to step outside. I’m not going to put my life in danger. I put my life in danger by wearing the [Maga] hat, and I need to be loved and respected as such.”
He added: “If I get killed wearing the hat in front of the White House, you’re not gonna win any midterms.”
