Apple Intelligence AI Summarise Feature Rolls Out to Safari

Apple Intelligence features have finally arrived on supported iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices, thanks to the company’s most recent developer beta version. Starting Monday, customers running iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1 developer beta may access features including contextual awareness in Siri, automatic movie creation in the Photos app, writing tools, and more. The Safari browser has also received the AI-powered Summarise feature, which provides summaries of web pages and articles.

The company’s release notes highlight the new Apple Intelligence features. The AI-powered Summarise feature was also introduced in an early preview version, as first reported by 9to5Mac. According to the publication, the feature may be accessible using Safari’s Reader mode.

When using Safari’s Reader mode, users will now notice a Summarise button at the top of the page, along with the new Apple Intelligence logo. When you tap the button, an animation scanning the page’s content shows on the screen. The animation apparently has a purple Apple Intelligence glow.

The scanning apparently takes only a few seconds before the summary gets generated. The publication discovered the feature in the iPhone 15 Pro, the M4-powered iPad Pro, and the MacBook Air with the M1 processor. The summary is stated to be at the top of the page on the iPhone, however, it appears in a sidebar on the iPad and Mac.

In addition to summarizing, the iOS 18.1 developer beta version included a preview of several other Apple Intelligence features. According to a report, Siri now has contextual awareness and can answer questions and do activities even when instructed in ambiguous language. Its user interface has also been redesigned.

The feature works using text prompts, allowing users to customize the movie however they prefer. Writing Tools have also reportedly debuted, and users may now proofread content with spelling and grammar checks across several first-party apps. They can also rewrite text in various tonalities.
