How to Fix the ‘A Network Change Was Detected’ Error

You can easily fix this annoying chrome error message.

If you are on a Windows computer then you might have encountered “a network change was detected” error message with Google Chrome. However, no need to worry about it as it’s not a big concern and has quite a few easy and fast solutions.

What Creates the ‘A Network Change Was Detected’ Error?

A network change was detected error generally occurs when the internet connection switches from one network to another as you view a web page or download content. This network change from one network to another confuses the web browser and disrupts current data flow.

How To Fix the ‘A Network Change Was Detected’ Error

This error can be annoying but you can easily fix this error with some simple tips. Here are some of the easy fixes that you can try.

1. Reload the web page

Click the “Reload this page” button at the top left corner of the Chrome window to reload the page. This is the first and easiest solution to fix the error. It forces Google Chrome to re-download the webpage content with the new internet connection.

2. Restart Google Chrome

Click the “Close(X)” button in the top right corner of the screen to close the google chrome. After that reopen Google Chrome to check whether the issue is fixed or not.

3. Reboot the modem and router

Manually unplug your devices and wait for about 2 to 3 minutes. Plug the devices back in and wait a few minutes for the network to come online. Then, restart the computer.

4. Clear Browsing Data

This is another way to fix many browser-related errors and bugs. Click the More icon in the upper-right corner and select Settings -> Advanced -> Clear Browsing Data -> Clear Data.

5. Check For Google Chrome Update

Like most web browsers, developers update Chrome regularly with security enhancements, new features, and bug fixes.

To update it, click the More icon (the three dots in the upper-right corner of the screen), then select Update Google Chrome.

6. Check For Windows Update

Windows update often corrects several computer problems because the process scans the system, downloads new files, and fixes known issues.

To perform a Windows update on Windows 10, go to Settings -> Update & Security, and select Check for updates.

7. Remove Unwanted Networks

In some cases, your Windows device might be trying to connect to too many networks at once. In order to fix this, remove or forget all of the networks you don’t need.

To do this, open Settings -> Network & Internet -> Manage known networks, remove unwanted connections by choosing the network name, then select Forget.

8. Flush DNS Settings

Highlight and copy ipconfig /flushdns to the clipboard, then open the Start Menu and press Ctrl+V. Select the Run command link that appears.
