Google Updates Gemini AI Design on Web and Android App

Google has made a few minor adjustments to Gemini’s look, both on the web interface and the Android app. Although small, these updates to the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot will make it easier to use and provide more relevant information.

The text field on the web has been redesigned, and some icons have been moved. Model information is now displayed in the Android app, and a Saved Info menu has been added. Saved Info was added to Gemini last month, allowing the chatbot to recall information about the user.

The Gemini website has been more closely matched with the AI chatbot app. The design update is small, affecting the text field of the interface simply. Previously, the Upload Images (for free users) and Plus icon (for Gemini Advanced subscribers) were located on the right side of the text field.

However, the icon is now displayed first on the left side. The “Ask Gemini” text is now displayed next to the Plus or Upload Images icon. Only the microphone icon is on the left side. While this may seem like a little change, it improves the overall appearance of the text field and minimizes the chances of accidental taps.

The Android app of Gemini has also undergone significant design changes. First, users will see AI model information at the top of the screen. When users visit the homepage, they will see Gemini Advanced followed by 1.5 Pro, indicating that the current model is Gemini 1.5 Pro. This is shown between the history and account menu.

On Pixel devices, the information is replaced by Gemini 1.5 Flash. When a user opens a conversation with the chatbot, the Gemini Advanced text is replaced by just “1.5 Pro”. This was initially spotted by 9to5Google.

Second, the Saved Info menu has been added to the account menu. However, tapping on it takes users to the Saved info website in a browser window.
