Who Is Sergio Gor? Trump Picks Him as Next US Ambassador to India

President Donald Trump announced that he has nominated Sergio Gor to serve as the next US Ambassador to India and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs. The announcement was made on Trump’s Truth Social account.

“I am pleased to announce that I am promoting Sergio Gor to be our next United States Ambassador to the Republic of India, and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs,” Trump wrote.

Trump Praises Gor’s Loyalty and Record

Trump highlighted Gor’s achievements as Director of Presidential Personnel, saying:

“Sergio and his team have hired nearly 4,000 America First Patriots across every Department of our Federal Government in RECORD time — Our Departments and Agencies are over 95% filled!”

Trump added that Gor is someone he can “fully trust” to deliver on his foreign policy agenda. “For the most populous region in the world, it is important that I have someone I can fully trust to deliver on my agenda and help us MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” Trump stated.

Gor will continue in his current role at the White House until his Senate confirmation.

Appointment Comes Amid US-India Tensions

Gor’s nomination comes at a time of increasing tensions between the US and India. The relations between the US and India have cooled due to India’s ongoing oil trade with Russia amid the Ukraine conflict.

Trump plans to impose a 50% tariff on Indian imports starting August 27, including a 25% penalty tied to Russian oil purchases.

Who Is Sergio Gor?

Sergio Gor is a longtime Trump loyalist and currently serves as the Director of Presidential Personnel at the White House. He played a key role in hiring America First Patriots, filling over 95% of federal positions, according to Trump.

Gor previously worked on Trump’s presidential campaigns, helped publish Trump’s best-selling books, and led a major Super PAC supporting the former president. He is widely considered one of the most influential figures shaping Trump’s political movement and government staffing strategy.

What’s Next?

Gor will maintain his White House responsibilities until the Senate confirms his appointment as Ambassador to India. If confirmed, his role will be crucial in managing US-India relations amid economic and geopolitical challenges in South and Central Asia.
