Truck accidentally runs over giant crocodile at Cahill’s Crossing, Australia.

A dramatic video from Cahill’s Crossing in Australia’s Northern Territory shows the moment a pickup truck (ute) accidentally ran over a giant crocodile, highlighting the dangers of one of the country’s most notorious crocodile habitats.

Crocodile Trapped Under Ute at Flooded River Crossing

The video, recorded and shared by TikTok user Matteo Mastratisi, captures a black ute crossing a flooded stretch of Cahill’s Crossing. As the vehicle moves forward, a large crocodile suddenly appears under the rear wheel. The reptile’s mouth is visibly open as it gets momentarily trapped beneath the vehicle.

The driver quickly reverses to release the animal, but then drives forward again — unintentionally running over the crocodile’s lower body.

Eyewitness: “You Couldn’t See the Croc Until It Was Too Late”

Mastratisi clarified that the incident was accidental and not due to reckless driving.

“It wasn’t the driver’s fault. You couldn’t see the croc until it was too late, and stopping halfway through the crossing was not an option,” he told news.com.au.

He added that the crocodile did not appear to be seriously injured after the incident.

Cahill’s Crossing: A Hotspot for Crocodile Encounters

Located in Kakadu National Park, Cahill’s Crossing is infamous for its high crocodile density — estimated at five to nine crocodiles per kilometre. It has a long history of dangerous interactions between humans and crocs.

In a recent incident, two men had to be rescued after their vehicle was swept off the crossing. Traditional owners and park officials have repeatedly warned the public about risky behaviour in the area.

“It could lead to serious injuries or fatalities,” they cautioned.
