During a White House roundtable on Wednesday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio handed President Donald Trump a handwritten note that quickly became the center of attention on social media. After whispering briefly to the president, Rubio passed the note, prompting Trump to say: “I was just given a note by the secretary of state saying that we’re very close to a deal in the Middle East, and they’re going to need me pretty quickly.”

The note, captured by an Associated Press photographer, read: “Very close. We need you to approve a Truth Social post soon so you can announce deal first.”

The moment fueled speculation about an imminent breakthrough in Israel-Gaza ceasefire negotiations.

Rubio Steps In and Sparks Media Interest

Marco Rubio, who was not initially in the room, entered the event later and sat in a chair previously occupied by White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. Shortly after taking his seat, he passed the now-famous note to Trump, attracting immediate attention from reporters and political observers.

Trump Hints at Travel to Egypt for Negotiations

President Trump told reporters he is likely to travel to Egypt in the coming days, where key negotiators in the peace talks are gathered: “We haven’t decided exactly. I’ll be going to Egypt. Most likely. That’s where everybody is gathered right now, and we appreciate that very much, but I’ll be making the rounds as the expression goes,” he said.

While no official announcement has been made, the urgency in Rubio’s note suggests that a significant development in Middle East diplomacy could be imminent, with Trump aiming to take a leading role.
