Bryan Kohberger’s Life Sentence: Luxuries Behind Bars Revealed

Bryan Kohberger, the convicted murderer of four University of Idaho students, will spend his life behind bars but has access to certain comforts. Despite public outrage and backlash from victims’ families over a controversial plea deal that spared him the death penalty, the 30-year-old will enjoy specific amenities during his incarceration.

Amenities Inside Prison

Kohberger is expected to be sent to Idaho’s Maximum-Security Prison, where he will be allowed to watch movies and access emails—potentially enabling him to communicate with his morbid fan base. NewsNation’s Brian Entin disclosed details about Kohberger’s life in prison, noting that while he will have these modest perks, his existence is likely to be grim and isolating.

“It’s the most severe facility in Idaho where the most dangerous prisoners go,” said Entin. He also noted that due to his notoriety, Kohberger “could be a target” among other inmates. Given this potential threat, he is expected to be housed in an ultra-protective unit, where prisoners are kept in individual cells for 23 hours a day and are allowed just one hour outside.

Access to Technology and Security Measures

Kohberger will primarily have access to a tablet during visitations outside his cell, where prisoners are shackled. To use a tablet inside his cell, he must pay $100, which includes access to music, movies, and email services, as reported by NewsNation.

Extra Security Precautions

The owner of the Idaho Bonding Company highlighted that due to Kohberger’s infamy, he will be subjected to extra security measures. “He’s going to have to be segregated; as you may know, people in prison don’t like those who hurt women or children, and he’s hurt women. That’s definitely going to put a target on his back,” he stated.
