The Annapolis Naval Academy in Maryland went into lockdown after reports of an active shooter, Fox News confirmed. According to the report, a former midshipman, who had been dismissed from the school, allegedly returned armed with a weapon.
“From USNA: Naval Support Activity Annapolis, in coordination with local law enforcement, is currently responding to reports of threats made to the Naval Academy. The base is on lockdown out of an abundance of caution. This is a developing situation and we will provide updates as they become available. Please avoid the area until further notice,” the City of Annapolis posted on social media.

Purported videos show authorities mounting a search for the shooter. In one aerial video, four officials—three in military fatigues—can be seen with their guns drawn, moving carefully along campus paths.

Fox News reported that gunshots were heard inside Bancroft Hall, where midshipmen are housed, and that the suspect was allegedly knocking on doors while pretending to be a military police officer.
