Samsung Galaxy Ring Showcased at MWC 2024: Details

Samsung Galaxy Ring has been presented at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, which is now taking place. The South Korean tech giant also stated that its Samsung Health platform will play an important part in the wearable by tracking health vitals and providing users with information.

Additionally, the company’s AI suite will be expanded to include a broader range. Samsung has also announced that the Galaxy Ring will be available in three different colours.

Samsung said on Sunday, via its Newsroom, that the Galaxy Ring will be “publicly displayed for the first time” at MWC 2024. It has now demonstrated the wearable device and provided some of its characteristics during a session earlier today. While the Galaxy Ring was not available to try on, it was placed in a large display cabinet for fans to look at.

Not much is known about the device. However, the images show the same dark metallic body with sensors on the inside side as when it was first teased at the Galaxy Unpacked event in January. According to Samsung, the Galaxy Ring will be available in three colours and include a variety of health tracking capabilities. No information about its launch date was provided.

The Galaxy Ring will be released as a new health form factor, the company has announced. It will be linked to the Samsung Health platform, which is being updated and modernised, according to previous sources.

Rumours suggest that the Galaxy Ring wearable will have a 24×7 heart rate monitor, a SpO2 (blood oxygen) sensor, a sleep monitoring tracker, and other fitness tracking features. It may also include a blood pressure monitoring feature.

Separately, the South Korean giant revealed that Galaxy AI will be a major focus of the event. Samsung previously announced that AI functions would be introduced to its existing smartphones, including the Galaxy S23 series, Tab S9 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy S23 FE.

However, it has been disclosed that the AI suite would be expanded across other product lines. The Galaxy Book 4 and Galaxy Watch 6 series will both receive Galaxy AI functionality, but in a more specific form. The laptops will acquire “intelligent productivity” capabilities, while the smartwatches will get “intelligent health” features.

The publication also provided a glimpse into what the “intelligent health” suite would look like by highlighting two aspects. A new feature called My Vitality Score will provide personalised health insights based on sleep quality and quantity, daily exercise, average heart rate, heart rate variability, and other factors. The second component, Booster Card, will follow users’ predefined goals and provide insights into how they might be met.
