Microsoft Designer App Is Now Available For All Users

The Microsoft Designer app, previously only available in preview, was released globally on Wednesday. The app is available for free download and installation on Android and iOS mobile devices, as well as Windows-based computers.

The Designer platform was unveiled last year and has been available on the Web and in the Microsoft Edge browser for a few months. It is available over the web as part of the Copilot platform. Interestingly, the software giant decided to keep the app separate from the Copilot app for Android and iOS.

The company announced the launch of the app in a blog post and said, “Today we’re announcing that the Microsoft Designer app is now generally available with a personal Microsoft account, with new features that help you create and edit like never before.” To utilize the Designer app, users will need a personal Microsoft account.

The Microsoft Designer app is an artificial intelligence (AI) image generator that operates in a somewhat different manner than traditional text-to-image generators. OpenAI’s Dall-E model powers it. The app can generate photos, social media posts, invitations, stickers, backgrounds, avatars, and more. Users can select what they want to generate from the options on the home screen and enter a text prompt for it.

Alternatively, they can select one of many templates that serve as the image’s framework. Users will simply need to fill in the gaps to inform the AI what to build. The second option is beneficial for individuals who need inspiration to get started. Aside from image generation, the app uses AI to edit all images. Currently, there are two editing options available: remove background and blur background.

The app’s free users will receive 15 credits each day to make images, with each image consuming one credit unless the task is too complex. Each generation will provide users with four image options. To generate more images, users will need a Copilot Pro subscription.
