Apple Vision Pro US Launch Date Delayed: Report

Instead of a January release date, the Apple Vision Pro is expected to be presented at a spring event.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple Vision Pro, the company’s first spatial computer revealed at WWDC 2023, might arrive in the US a few months later than expected.

While the company has not disclosed specific intentions for launching the Vision Pro outside of the United States, its first mixed reality headset could be accessible in other regions months after it is released in the United States. Unlike most Apple products, the Apple Vision Pro headset will not be available from third-party dealers.

Gurman states that the Apple Vision Pro will be released in the United States in March 2024 in a subscriber-only version of his weekly newsletter Power On (via 9to5Mac). While Apple’s software development teams had hoped for a January release date, the company is now doing final device testing and confirming distribution plans for its first mixed-reality headset.

According to Gurman, the Apple Vision Pro will not be offered through third-party vendors, unlike the majority of Apple’s products. This could be due to logistical issues, such as different stock-keeping units (SKUs) for Zeiss prescription lenses or headband sizes for different head shapes and sizes. He also claims that Apple wants to manage the headset’s launch and how people interact with it.

As a result, Gurman said users should anticipate the company to show off the headset for the second time during its spring launch event, along with apps and features that have been introduced since it was first announced earlier this year at its annual Worldwide Developers conference.
