US President Donald Trump confirmed that he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 15, 2025, in Alaska. The announcement came via Trump’s official post on Truth Social, where he hinted that a Ukraine ceasefire deal could be approaching.

Truth Social Announcement

In his post, Trump wrote:

“The highly anticipated meeting between myself, as President of the United States of America, and President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, will take place next Friday, August 15, 2025, in the Great State of Alaska. Further details to follow. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Trump noted that the meeting was initially planned for an earlier date but was postponed due to “security arrangements that unfortunately people have to make.”

First US-Russia Summit Since 2021

This will mark the first US-Russia summit in four years, following Joe Biden’s 2021 meeting with Putin in Geneva. Analysts suggest it could become a key moment in Trump’s diplomatic push to end the Ukraine conflict, though deep differences remain between Moscow and Kyiv over peace terms.

Possible Breakthrough in Ukraine

While the summit has raised hopes for progress, experts caution that a full ceasefire is not guaranteed. Both sides continue to hold firm on their non-negotiable demands, leaving the outcome of the talks uncertain.
