67,000 Power Stick Deodorants Recalled After FDA Violations

Over 67,000 cases of deodorant sold at Walmart, Amazon recalled.

Keeping your armpits fresh just became a bit more complicated. Late last week, the FDA issued a national recall for more than 67,000 cases of Power Stick deodorants due to serious manufacturing issues. Reported by The Cut, these products are made by A.P. Deauville, a Pennsylvania-based company known for personal care goods sold at major retailers nationwide.

Reasons for the Power Stick Deodorant Recall

The recall was triggered by violations of current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), a legal set of standards that companies must adhere to for ensuring product safety. However, the FDA has not provided specific details regarding the violations. The issues may involve contamination, mislabeling, or other concerns, but the FDA has yet to disclose further information. This lack of transparency prompted the agency to pull tens of thousands of deodorant bottles from store shelves.

Affected Products

The recall affects several Power Stick deodorants, including:

  • Power Stick Original Nourishing Invisible Protection Roll-On Antiperspirant
  • Power Stick Invisible Protection Roll-On Spring Fresh
  • Power Stick for Her Roll-On Powder Fresh

These deodorants have been widely distributed through retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and Dollar Tree. If you recently purchased any of these products, it’s wise to check your bathroom cabinet.

What You Should Do

The FDA advises anyone who has bought a recalled item to either discard it or return it to the store. As reported by The Cut, this is not the first time deodorants have faced issues; there has been recent public concern over aluminum in deodorants and its potential link to cancer.
