NYC Halloween Parade 2025 Guide: Route & Schedule

New York City’s most iconic Halloween celebration — the Village Halloween Parade — returns for its 52nd year on Friday, October 31, 2025, filling the streets of Greenwich Village with color, costumes, and creativity.

This year’s theme, “Potluck!”, celebrates community, diversity, and the joy of sharing. Parade director Jeanne Fleming, who has led the event since 1985, said the theme is about unity through creativity.

“It’s about everyone bringing something to the table — art, costume, food, or joy — and creating something bigger together,” said Fleming.

City Harvest Named 2025 Grand Marshal

For 2025, the parade’s Grand Marshal will be City Harvest, New York City’s pioneering food rescue organization dedicated to ending food insecurity.

“City Harvest perfectly represents this year’s theme,” organisers wrote on the parade website. “They’ve been nourishing this city for decades — rescuing, feeding, and sustaining communities.”

The collaboration aligns perfectly with this year’s spirit of giving, as City Harvest continues to support thousands of New Yorkers through its food recovery initiatives.

Parade Timing, Route, and How to Join

The Halloween Parade 2025 will begin at 7:00 PM, starting at Canal Street and Sixth Avenue, and will proceed north along Sixth Avenue to 15th Street.

Participants in costume are welcome to join the procession — no registration required — by lining up at 6:30 PM at Canal Street and Sixth Avenue.

Last year’s event drew over 65,000 participants and an estimated 1.5 million spectators. With mild weather expected and the parade falling on a Friday night, organizers anticipate an even larger turnout this year.

For those unable to attend in person, the Village Halloween Parade will be broadcast live on NY1 and PIX11, and streamed on the official parade website.

    Street Closures and Travel Advisory

The NYPD has announced major street closures and traffic restrictions across Lower Manhattan during the parade. Expect the following roads to be affected:

    • Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas) from Canal Street to 16th Street
    • Cross streets between Hudson Street and Broadway
    • Rolling closures on Spring, Broome, Prince, Houston, and Bleecker Streets

Spectators are strongly encouraged to use public transportation. Nearby subway stations — including Spring St., Houston St., W. 4th, and 14th St. — will remain open but are expected to be crowded. The MTA will operate additional evening service on select lines to handle increased traffic.

A Celebration of Creativity and Community

The Village Halloween Parade has long been a symbol of New York’s creative energy — where art, music, and imagination merge in one of the city’s most anticipated annual events.

With this year’s “Potluck!” theme and City Harvest as Grand Marshal, the 2025 parade promises to be a vibrant blend of community spirit, inclusivity, and artistic expression — a night where everyone brings something special to the table.
