    A Historic Family Business Devastated

Bass Bay Brewhouse is a well-known family-owned Muskego restaurant, operated by the Oschmann family since the 1950s. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Ryan Oschmann’s grandparents ran a supper club on the property until 1985, after which it was passed to his parents. The restaurant was reopened in its current form in 2015 by Ryan and his mother, Laurie.

The Muskego Police Department shared their “thoughts and prayers” for the Oschmann family, acknowledging the restaurant’s deep roots in the community.

Community Reacts With Shock and Support

News of the fire quickly spread across social media, where Muskego residents expressed heartbreak over the destruction of a local institution. Many commenters shared long-standing memories of dining at Bass Bay Brewhouse.

One resident wrote, “Grateful no one was injured but devastated for this iconic family business!! A absolute treasure of Muskego.”

Another added, “Such a huge loss for Muskego and the Oschmann Family. Stay safe firefighters & all responders.”

    Firefighters Continue Response Efforts

Crews are expected to remain on-site for an extended period as they continue containing remaining hotspots and securing the structure. Further updates will be provided by Muskego authorities as more information becomes available.
