Margate Shooting Leaves BSO Deputy Injured, Suspect Shot

A Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) deputy and a suspect were taken to the hospital on Thursday after a shooting occurred during an investigation in Margate. The incident unfolded around 2:30 p.m. while BSO’s Burglary Apprehension Team was working near the 6100 block of Northwest 2nd Street.

Investigators reported that the suspect opened fire at the deputy during a burglary investigation. The bullet struck the deputy, but his bulletproof vest stopped it, preventing life-threatening injuries.

According to BSO, the deputy returned fire, hitting the suspect. Paramedics transported both individuals to the hospital. Officials have not yet released the suspect’s condition.
