Laguna Niguel Brush Fire Near Beacon Hill Prompts Shelter Setup

A fast-moving brush fire, dubbed the Beacon Fire, broke out at 3:56 p.m. PST near Alcott Place and Ridgeway Avenue in Laguna Niguel, California. The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) confirmed the fire had burned roughly three acres of vegetation, threatening homes in the densely populated Beacon Hill neighborhood.

Massive Firefighting Response with Aerial Support

Incident Command immediately requested additional firefighting resources, including a strike team and aerial water drops, per @OC_Scanner.

Among the air assets deployed were Copter 76 and Helitanker 47, a CH-47 Chinook capable of carrying 3,000 gallons of water, to assist ground crews working to flank the fire.

Road Closures and Emergency Shelter Opened

As a precaution, the City of Laguna Niguel closed several roads, including:

  • Camino del Avion from South Peak Drive to Barkentine Boulevard

Residents were urged to avoid the fire zone to ensure emergency access for firefighting crews.

A care and reception center has been opened at Crown Valley Community Center, 29751 Crown Valley Parkway, for those in need of shelter or information. No evacuations have been ordered, but officials stressed that conditions remain fluid and urged residents to stay alert.

Homes Protected, No Injuries Reported So Far

As of early evening, the OCFA confirmed that no injuries or structural damage had occurred, per @OC_Scanner. Firefighting crews continued aggressive aerial and ground attacks to prevent the fire from spreading.

Aerial observations suggested the fire shifted slightly northwest. Officials remain cautious, noting similarities to the 2023 Niguel Fire, which was contained at four acres with no evacuations, per the Orange County Register.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the Laguna Niguel Beacon Fire, while crews work to secure containment lines. The OCFA urged residents to monitor official updates and avoid the area.
