iPhone Users Outside the US Can Now Access Apple Intelligence Features

Apple Intelligence, a set of artificial intelligence (AI) features for Apple products, was unveiled on June 10 during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024. In subsequent weeks, the Cupertino-based tech giant released several of its AI-powered features through iOS 18 developer beta releases, but only in the United States. However, this has changed, as users worldwide can now test various Apple Intelligence features in the latest iOS 18.1 developer beta 3.

According to Apple’s release notes, with the release of the third developer beta updates for iOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1, iPhone users outside the United States can now test out Apple Intelligence capabilities. This works by changing both the iPhone and Siri’s language to English (US).

Before the upgrade, users had to change the region of their iPhone model to the United States to gain access to Apple Intelligence, but this is no longer required. According to 9to5Mac, AI-powered writing tools like summarization and others only operate in English. Furthermore, users in China and the EU are still reportedly unable to use Apple’s AI suite.

Apple Intelligence significantly improves Siri’s conversational capabilities. It is also supposed to increase on-screen awareness for better reactions. One of the most recent additions is the ‘Clean Up’ feature. It operates similarly to the object removal feature on other phones, such as the Google Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S24 series, removing objects and people from photos.

However, some Apple Intelligence features, such as text-generation and formatting tools driven by ChatGPT, are expected to be released later this year. Notably, iOS 18 is likely to be widely available to iPhone users following the debut of the iPhone 16 series.
