Helicopter Catches Fire in Lakeville, Dakota County

Officials confirmed that there are no survivors after a helicopter crash Saturday afternoon near Airlake Airport in Lakeville.

The Lakeville Police Department reported that the helicopter went down around 2:45 p.m. near Highview Avenue and 219th Street West, just west of the airport.

A spokesperson with the City of Lakeville stated in an email:

“There are no survivors,” adding that authorities are still working to determine how many people were on board.

Investigation Under Federal Oversight

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have taken over the investigation. Officials said more information will be released later, including the cause of the crash and the number of passengers on the aircraft.

Authorities continue to secure the site as they work with federal agencies to gather evidence and piece together what led to the tragic incident.
