Tech billionaire Elon Musk has denied ever visiting the late financier Jeffrey Epstein’s island, following reports that his name appeared in recently released files connected to Epstein.
Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter), criticizing media coverage:
“Shame on Sky News for this utterly misleading headline. Anyone pushing this false narrative deserves complete contempt. Epstein tried to get me to go to his island and I REFUSED, yet they name me even before Prince Andrew, who did visit.”

Details From the Newly Released Files
The files were turned over to the House Oversight Committee by Epstein’s estate. They reportedly show that Musk was invited to Epstein’s island in December 2014, though he declined. The documents also reference other prominent figures, including:
- Prince Andrew
- Internet entrepreneur Peter Thiel
- Former White House adviser Steve Bannon
A flight manifest included in the files shows Prince Andrew traveling with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell from Teterboro, New Jersey, to West Palm Beach, Florida, on May 12, 2000. Maxwell was convicted in 2021 for conspiring with Epstein to traffic underage girls for sex.
One heavily redacted ledger mentions payments for massages for an “Andrew” in February and May 2000. While palace records confirm Prince Andrew was in the U.S. for a reception, it is unclear if the ledger specifically refers to him.
Other Notable Entries
The files also reference planned meetings with several other well-known figures:
- Lunch with Peter Thiel in November 2017
- Breakfast with Steve Bannon on February 17, 2019
- Tentative breakfast meeting with Bill Gates in December 2014
Political Reactions to the Files
Sara Guerrero, spokeswoman for House Oversight Committee Democrats, emphasized the importance of the documents:
“It should be clear to every American that Jeffrey Epstein was friends with some of the most powerful and wealthiest men in the world. Every new document produced provides new information as we work to bring justice for the survivors and victims.”
Republicans on the committee criticized Democrats, accusing them of prioritizing politics over victims, and stated they would release the full set of documents soon.
