Canadian rock legends Rush are set to reunite for a 2026 tour, years after stepping away from the stage following drummer Neil Peart’s death in 2020. Surviving members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson revealed the Fifty Something tour at a surprise Rock & Roll Hall of Fame event in Cleveland, reported The Guardian.
The tour celebrates over 50 years of Rush’s music while paying tribute to Peart, the band’s drummer and chief lyricist. Twelve shows are confirmed across seven cities, including Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, and Cleveland. This marks Rush’s first major outing since 2015.

Who Is Anika Nilles?
Replacing a drummer as iconic as Neil Peart is no small task. Anika Nilles, a French-German drummer known for her technical precision and dynamic style, will handle drumming duties on the 2026 tour, reported TMZ.
Lee and Lifeson invited Nilles to Toronto earlier this year for secret rehearsals. They were impressed with how she balanced her own flair while respecting Peart’s legendary sound.
“She is remarkable. We know fans will give her every chance to live up to an impossible role,” Lee said.
From YouTube to Global Stages
Nilles’ career began unconventionally. Originally studying social education, she switched paths and earned a degree in popular music and music business from the Popakademie Baden-Wurttemberg in Mannheim, Germany.
Her breakthrough came in 2013 when her original track Wild Boy went viral on YouTube, quickly gaining thousands of views. She has since grown a loyal online following, sharing videos of her compositions and drum performances, amassing millions of views.
A Growing Solo Career
In 2017, Nilles released her debut solo album, Pikalar, an instrumental project showcasing her rhythmic complexity and melody-driven drumming. She has since released three more albums, including her latest, False Truth, earlier this year.
Beyond studio work, Nilles has performed at international drum festivals, hosted clinics, and collaborated with major artists. In 2022, she joined the late Jeff Beck on a European tour, cementing her reputation as one of the most forward-facing drummers of her generation.
Honoring Neil Peart’s Legacy
Although not a full-time Rush member, Nilles plays a critical role in bringing the band’s complex sound back to life on stage. Lee and Lifeson emphasize that the reunion is about celebrating Rush’s music and honoring Neil Peart.
The band is rehearsing over 35 songs for varied setlists each night, with shows running over two hours and featuring many tributes to Peart. His family has given the tour their full blessing.
