Arcade Fire co-founders Win Butler and Régine Chassagne have officially announced their separation after more than two decades of marriage. The pair, who formed the heart of the Grammy-winning Canadian band, shared the news through a heartfelt post on Arcade Fire’s official Instagram page.

Statement Shared on Instagram

In their joint message, the couple wrote: “After a long and loving marriage, Win & Régine have decided to separate. They continue to love, admire and support each other as they co-parent their son.”

The statement also noted that while their marriage has ended, their partnership in music and philanthropy will continue.

“Their bond as creative soulmates will endure, as will Arcade Fire,” the post continued. “The band send their love and look forward to seeing you all on tour soon.”

A Long Partnership in Life and Music

Butler and Chassagne’s relationship has been closely intertwined with Arcade Fire’s journey. The couple married in 2003, the same year the band released their debut EP, marking the beginning of both their personal and professional partnership.

Over the years, they became known for their dynamic stage presence and for leading one of Canada’s most influential indie rock bands, celebrated for albums like Funeral, The Suburbs, and Reflektor.

Past Controversies

In 2022, Butler faced allegations of sexual misconduct made by several individuals. While acknowledging that he had relationships outside of his marriage, Butler maintained that all encounters were consensual.

Despite the controversy, Arcade Fire continued touring and working on music projects, with Chassagne standing by his side during performances.

While Win Butler and Régine Chassagne have decided to part ways personally, their dedication to Arcade Fire and their shared artistic vision endures. Their announcement reflects mutual respect and a continued commitment to their music, fans, and family.
