The University of Michigan stabbing incident on Thursday evening has prompted an urgent manhunt after Ann Arbor Police released a photo of the suspect.
The attack occurred around 6:21 PM on Catherine Street and Zina Pitcher Place, near the D Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion construction site.
What Happened During the University of Michigan Stabbing?
According to police, the suspect attempted to enter the construction site but was denied access. Moments later, he allegedly stabbed an individual nearby. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s condition.
The University of Michigan Department of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) issued an emergency alert at 6:22 PM, warning students and staff to avoid the area until further notice.

Suspect Description Released by Ann Arbor Police
By 7:11 PM, police shared a description of the suspect:
- Heavyset Black male
- Height: approximately 5’10″–6’0″
- Wearing a white dress shirt, a tie, and blue jeans
A surveillance photo of the suspect has since been circulated to the public as authorities intensify their search.

The Ann Arbor Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward. The motive behind the stabbing remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
