Former President Donald Trump announced that conservative activist and commentator Charlie Kirk has died after being shot in the neck during an event at Utah Valley University (UVU) on September 10.

On Truth Social, Trump wrote:

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

Shooting During American Comeback Tour

Kirk, 31, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was at UVU for the first stop of his 14-city American Comeback Tour when the shooting occurred.

Videos circulating on social media show Kirk speaking under a white tent with banners reading “The American Comeback” and “Prove Me Wrong”. Suddenly, a gunshot rings out, and Kirk is seen clutching his neck as blood flows from the left side. Shocked spectators scream and flee the scene.

Legacy of Charlie Kirk

Charlie Kirk rose to prominence as a key conservative voice and one of Trump’s strongest allies. He co-founded Turning Point USA in 2012 at the age of 18, focusing on mobilizing young voters through social media and college campus events.

Over the years, Kirk became a leading figure in Republican populist conservatism, known for his outspoken commentary, activism, and ability to energize students and grassroots supporters.

Remembering a Conservative Icon

Kirk’s sudden death marks a major loss for conservative politics, particularly in youth engagement. His work with Turning Point USA reshaped campus activism and influenced a generation of conservative voters.

As tributes pour in, questions remain about the suspect, motive, and security at campus events following the shocking attack.
