Mingus Lucien Reedus, the 25-year-old son of The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus, was arrested on Saturday morning in Manhattan after being accused of assaulting a woman inside his Chelsea apartment, according to The New York Post.
What Happened in the Chelsea Apartment?
Police sources report that the incident occurred at Reedus’ apartment on West 16th Street. Authorities allege that Reedus hit a 33-year-old woman on the knee, strangled her, and slammed her to the ground.
He was charged with third-degree assault and unlawful obstruction of respiration following the alleged attack.
According to officials, Reedus called 911 at 8:40 a.m., claiming a woman inside his apartment was threatening to take her life and using drugs. When officers arrived, however, the woman accused him of attacking her. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
Police Response and Eyewitness Details
By 9:25 a.m., Reedus was escorted from his apartment by police. Witnesses said he appeared “disheveled” and had “heavy eyelids.”
Later that evening, at about 11:45 p.m., the woman believed to be the victim was seen leaving the 10th NYPD Precinct with an unidentified man. When questioned by reporters, the man said:
“You got your story all wrong.”
The woman, wearing sunglasses and a leather jacket, described the incident as “a misunderstanding.” When asked why police were called, she replied:
“He called the police.”
Previous Legal Troubles
This is not the first time Mingus Lucien Reedus has faced legal issues. In 2021, he was accused of punching a 24-year-old woman in the face during a fight at the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy. The woman was hospitalized with an injury under her eye.
That case concluded in March 2022 after Reedus accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to disorderly conduct. At the time, his lawyer argued that Reedus should have faced lesser charges.
