US President Donald Trump’s helicopter, Marine One, was forced to make an emergency landing in the UK after a reported hydraulic issue. The incident happened while Trump and First Lady Melania were traveling from Chequers to London’s Stansted Airport.
According to reports, the helicopter landed safely at a local airfield, where the couple transferred to a support helicopter to continue their journey.
White House Confirms “Minor Hydraulic Issue”
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the issue, saying the landing was precautionary.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the pilots landed at a local airfield before reaching Stansted Airport. The president and the first lady safely boarded the support helicopter,” Leavitt told reporters.
What was expected to be a 20-minute flight turned into nearly 40 minutes, as the emergency switch caused delays.
Trump Boards Air Force One After Delay
Despite the snag, both Trump and Melania later boarded Air Force One for their return flight to the United States.
While speaking to reporters on board, Trump joked about the situation.
“Fly safely,” he said. “You know why I say that? Because I’m on the flight. I want to get home, otherwise, I wouldn’t care.”
Smooth Ending After Scare
The emergency landing did not cause any harm, and the White House emphasized that the situation was under control. Trump and Melania resumed their journey without further issues after boarding Air Force One.
