A senior official from Donald Trump’s administration was allegedly assaulted during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Thursday, sparking outrage from the White House and raising questions about UN security.
Trump Official Attacked Inside UN Bathroom
According to reports, the incident occurred when a “deranged leftist” followed a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) official into a UN bathroom and physically assaulted him. The official was in New York accompanying HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly condemned the attack, telling Fox News: “An HHS official was followed into a bathroom, recorded, physically assaulted and verbally accosted by a deranged leftist at the UN who somehow entered the venue past multiple layers of security.”
The attacker has since been arrested, and the official is safe. However, the White House accused the UN of a “major security failure” and suggested the assault was part of broader sabotage against Trump.

Trump Cites “Triple Sabotage” at the UN
This alleged assault came just a day after Trump himself claimed that his UN appearance was sabotaged. Speaking on Truth Social, Trump detailed several disruptions during his visit.
He said an escalator carrying him and his wife Melania “came to a screeching halt”, nearly causing him to fall. He also claimed that his teleprompter went dark at the start of his speech and that sound failures prevented world leaders from hearing him.
“Not one, not two, but three very sinister events!” Trump wrote.
“This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage at the UN. They ought to be ashamed of themselves … No wonder the United Nations hasn’t been able to do the job that they were put in existence to do.”
White House Points Finger at UN Security
The White House has expressed anger over both the alleged assault and the technical mishaps, directly blaming the UN for failing to ensure safety. Officials suggested that Trump’s critical speech may have been deliberately undermined.
The UN has not yet publicly commented on either the bathroom assault or Trump’s accusations of sabotage.
