Trey Dean Wright, a 16-year-old from Johnsonville, South Carolina, was found dead on June 24 with multiple gunshot wounds. Florence County Sheriff’s deputies discovered his body on First Neck Road, about 45 miles west of Myrtle Beach. Authorities believe the killing stemmed from a dispute “over a girl.”
Girlfriend Among Nine Arrested
Wright’s girlfriend, Gianna Kistenmacher, was arrested as one of the suspects. She faces charges of being an accessory before the fact, with officials alleging she brought the shooter to the scene knowing he was armed and likely to kill Trey, according to the sheriff’s office.
Shooter Identified as 19-Year-Old
Devan Scott Raper, 19, of Conway, was arrested the next day and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is being held without bond.
Other suspects include Hunter Kendall and Corrine Belviso, both 18, and Sydney Kearns, 17. Two other juveniles, Jaden Blaze Auclaire and Braylon O’Neill Thompson, were also charged. Two additional suspects remain unnamed.
Murder Reportedly Recorded on Video
Authorities revealed that at least one teen involved recorded the shooting on video, adding to the case’s shocking nature.
Sheriff Calls It a Tragic Rivalry
Sheriff T.J. Joye described the motive as a romantic rivalry, saying: “They had issues with each other, and it was over a female. The sad thing is, you got a 16-year-old that lost his life. You’ve got a 19-year-old who is going to be in jail the rest of his life. Over what?”
Bond Details
Raper and Kendall are both held without bond. Belviso and Kearns posted $20,000 bonds and were released pending trial.
