Reason for Recall
TTI Outdoor Power Equipment, the manufacturer behind Ryobi products, said the capacitor in these pressure washers can overheat and burst.
The CPSC warned that this defect could forcefully eject parts, posing a serious risk of injury to users and bystanders, as reported by Fox Business.
So far, the company has received 135 reports of overheating capacitors, including 41 explosions that caused 32 injuries. Reported injuries include fractures to fingers, hands, face, and eyes.
The recall specifically affects Ryobi Electric Pressure Washer models RY142300 and RY142711VNM. These units are green, feature a spray nozzle with a detergent tank, a blue cap, and storage space for accessories. The word “Ryobi” is printed on the front of each product.
