Heavy rainfall in Rajasthan, India, over the past 24 hours has resulted in flood-like conditions across several areas of the state, including cities such as Ajmer, Bundi, Pushkar, Sawai Madhopur, and Pali.
Severe Waterlogging in Ajmer
Intense rainfall has led to significant waterlogging, particularly around the Dargah of Khwaja Garib Nawaz. The lanes surrounding the shrine have transformed into fast-flowing streams.
Amid the downpour, a man lost his balance and fell into the stream of floodwater, getting swept away by the current. Bystanders and shopkeepers rushed to help but found the force of the water too strong to intervene safely.
Heroic Rescue
Fortunately, a quick-thinking hotel staff member sprang into action. He managed to grab the man’s hand and pulled him to safety, preventing a potentially tragic outcome. A video captured the moment, showing the man, holding a water bottle, being swept away by the powerful floodwaters.
Structural Damage and Overflowing Lakes
The heavy rains also caused a dilapidated house in Ajmer’s Lakhan Kotdi to collapse on Saturday morning. The family had evacuated the structure a day prior due to visible cracks. Additionally, the Ana Sagar Lake in Ajmer overflowed as a result of the continuous downpours.
As per the reports, the waterlogging was caused by the overflow of the lake’s outlet, noting that the channel gates had been opened to mitigate the situation.
Rainfall Statistics and Future Forecast
Since the onset of the monsoon season on June 1, Rajasthan has received 126 percent more rainfall than normal, according to the Meteorological Department.
