A Salinas shooting in East Salinas on Thursday afternoon prompted a brief lockdown at Alisal High School, located at 777 Williams Road, and at Cesar E. Chavez Elementary School, according to KSBW 8.
The lockdown began at 3:55 p.m. and was lifted shortly afterward.
Authorities have not confirmed whether anyone was injured in the incident, and no information about the shooter has been released.
Police Activity Near Towt Street and Moreno Drive
A heavy law enforcement presence was seen near the intersection of Towt Street and Moreno Drive, where officers responded to reports of gunfire.
School officials assured families that no threat ever entered the campus, and the lockdowns were implemented strictly as a precaution due to the nearby off-campus incident.
Online Claims About Possible Victim Not Confirmed by Police
While police have not announced any victims, unverified claims began circulating on local social media groups shortly after the shooting.
One post in a Salinas crime watch group claimed: “3:50pm / Salinas Camarillo Ct. Victim of a shooting, 18 yrs old.”
The same post speculated — without confirmation — that the victim may have been a student or even a freshman at a nearby school.
Authorities have not confirmed any of these details.
A separate report by the Salinas Chronicle claimed that an 18-year-old had been shot in the neck on Camarillo Court and that investigators were on scene gathering evidence. However, police have yet to publicly validate these reports.
Investigation Ongoing
As of now, officials have released no suspect description, no motive, and no confirmed information about injuries related to the Salinas shooting.
Police continue to investigate and have urged residents to avoid speculation until verified updates are issued.
