The investigation into the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez took a new turn on Tuesday after reports claimed that singer D4vd has been identified as a suspect. The 15-year-old’s body was discovered inside an abandoned Tesla at a Los Angeles towing yard. The vehicle was registered to the singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.
Following the discovery, D4vd canceled his tour and said he was cooperating with police. However, more than two months after the body was found in a severely decayed state, new reports suggest the investigation has shifted focus.
Has D4vd Been Arrested?
As of now, D4vd has not been arrested or charged in connection with the teen’s death. But on Tuesday, NBC News reported—citing a source with direct knowledge of the case—that the singer has “not been cooperative” with LAPD investigators and has been named a suspect.
The LAPD has not confirmed this claim. Police have also not released any new details about the direction of the investigation or whether charges are expected.
Celeste Rivas Investigation: What We Know
Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a teenager from Lake Elsinore, California, was reported missing in April 2024, with her last known sighting on April 5. Police discovered her body on September 8 inside the abandoned Tesla. According to the LAPD, the body “had been deceased for several weeks before the discovery.”
Investigators identified the teen through DNA matching with her mother. However, progress has stalled because the remains were too decomposed for the LA County coroner to determine the cause of death.
This creates a major challenge for prosecutors. If authorities eventually decide to file charges, they may only be able to pursue concealment of a dead body, unless new evidence emerges.
Investigation Still Ongoing
While rumors and speculation continue to circulate online, police have not confirmed whether D4vd will face charges. With the cause of death still unknown and forensic limitations slowing the investigation, the case remains wide open.
