New information has emerged about the final moments of Chuck Potthast, best known from 90 Day Fiancé. According to audio released by TMZ on Friday, a 911 call made by Potthast’s son described the shocking scene inside the family’s Florida home.
In the recording, Potthast’s son tells the dispatcher he found his father “lying in the bathtub and bleeding from the chest” and feared he was already gone. He said his father did not appear alive. The operator instructed him to turn Potthast onto his side, but he said his father was face down in the tub.
Authorities have not released an official cause of death.
Family Confirms Chuck Potthast’s Death
Potthast’s daughter Elizabeth Castravet confirmed his passing in November, writing that the family was “devastated” by the loss.
Another daughter, Rebekah Lichtwerch, shared a deeply emotional message, saying her world had been “distorted into a place I don’t understand.”
Potthast was 64 years old.
Did Health Issues Play a Role?
In the months before his death, Chuck Potthast had been open about significant medical struggles. In September, he disclosed on social media that he had undergone an eight-hour surgery to repair a hernia and a collapsed stomach.
In 2022, he revealed he had battled glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, though he later confirmed he was cancer-free. At this time, it remains unclear whether his previous health conditions contributed to his death.
Potthast’s son-in-law, 90 Day Fiancé cast member Andrei Castravet, addressed widespread speculation regarding cancer. In a video posted on November 25, he said the past weeks had been “incredibly, incredibly tough” and insisted rumors that Potthast died from cancer were “rumors and clickbait” and “lies.”
