A man has been taken into custody following a stabbing on a light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Friday evening. Police identified 33-year-old Oscar Solarzano as the suspect in the attack, which left a male passenger seriously injured.
The incident happened just before 5 p.m. near North Brevard Street and East 22nd Street, where the train appeared to stop between stations. The victim was taken to Novant Health Presbyterian with serious injuries and is now reported to be in stable condition, according to the Mecklenburg EMS Agency.
This is Oscar Solarzano.
A criminal alien who was previously deported and then illegally re-entered the United States.
Last night he viciously stabbed a man in the chest on the same Charlotte NC light rail line where Iryna Zarutska was murdered just months ago.

Charges Filed Against Oscar Solarzano
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed that Oscar Solarzano faces multiple charges, including:
- Attempted first-degree murder
- Assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury
- Breaking and entering a motor vehicle
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Intoxicated and disruptive behavior
Court records state that Solarzano was intoxicated on the train, challenged the victim to a fight, and shouted at other passengers before the stabbing. Documents also note that no bond was set because he is in the country illegally and “has been deported previously.”
After the attack, Solarzano was quickly detained, questioned by detectives, and taken into custody by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Incident Follows Earlier Fatal Stabbing on the Blue Line
Friday’s stabbing comes months after another violent incident on Charlotte’s Blue Line light rail system. In that case, 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryan Zarutska was fatally stabbed. Decarlos Brown Jr., 34, was charged with first-degree murder and later indicted on federal charges related to violence against a railroad carrier and mass transportation system resulting in death.
