Police in Champlin, Minnesota, issued a shelter-in-place order on the evening of September 5, 2025, after a stabbing near Andrews Park. The incident happened around 5:54 p.m. in the 7100 block of 120th Avenue.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect and victim knew each other.

Official Statement From Champlin Police

The Champlin Police Department explained why the shelter-in-place was put in place:

“Out of an abundance of caution, officers requested a shelter-in-place while actively searching for the suspect. As of 7:20pm, investigators believe the suspect has left the City of Champlin. The shelter-in-place will be rescinded,” the department said.

The order covered a one-mile area around Andrews Park while officers searched for the suspect.

Investigation Remains Active

Police stressed that this is still an ongoing investigation. No details have been released yet about the victim’s condition or the suspect’s identity.

Officials added that more information will be shared as soon as it becomes available.

“At 5:54pm on September 5, 2025, the Champlin Police Department responded to a reported stabbing in the 7100 block of 120th Avenue. The suspect and victims are known to one another. Out of an abundance of caution, officers requested a shelter-in-place while actively searching for the suspect. As of 7:20pm, investigators believe the suspect has left the City of Champlin. The shelter-in-place will be rescinded. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.”
