The university sent a BrownUAlert warning students, staff and visitors about an active shooter on campus. The urgent alert instructed individuals near Barus & Holley to:
- Lock their doors
- Silence their phones
- Stay hidden until further notice
The alert emphasized the widely adopted “RUN, HIDE, FIGHT” guidance, advising people to evacuate if possible, seek cover if escape is not safe, and only use force as a last resort.
