Agnes, the TikTok personality widely known as Epic Gamer Grandma, has died after a long period of ill health, her family confirmed in a statement shared on social media. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, with her daughter Pauline by her side.
“It is with an incredible amount of pain that tonight I must announce that Agnes, our epic gamer grandma, passed away peacefully at 9:20 p.m. on Sunday, 21 December, 2025,” the family wrote in a post shared on her official Instagram account.
Family Confirms Death in Emotional Statement
The announcement described Agnes’ final moments as calm and surrounded by loved ones. Her grandson, Culsan, also shared a heartfelt message reflecting on her decline and the grief felt by the family.
“We watched the strongest woman we know slowly lose her words, and now that she’s gone, we are drowning in all the things we never got the chance to say back,” he wrote.
Rise of Gamer Grandma on TikTok
Agnes began posting on TikTok in 2019 and quickly gained a devoted following. Her videos often featured her everyday hobbies, including knitting, playing bingo, and gaming—particularly Minecraft—paired with her warm humour and unmistakable “crunchy cough.”
Over time, she amassed around three million followers and became a beloved figure on the platform, especially among younger audiences.
Health Struggles Shared With Fans
Agnes had been in hospital since October, when her grandson began updating fans about her health. She was admitted due to complications related to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
In early updates, Culsan said she attended regular hospital check-ups but noted that “this time she is quite seriously ill.” In later posts, he shared that it had become increasingly unlikely she would return home, describing her frustration and emotional toll during her extended hospital stay.
Fans Mourn a Beloved Online Figure
Following news of her death, tributes poured in from fans across social media. In a December 23 post, Culsan wrote, “She left this world the way she lived in it: surrounded by love.”
Fans responded with messages of grief and gratitude, with many crediting Epic Gamer Grandma for bringing comfort and laughter during difficult times. One comment read, “Epic Gamer Grandma made my days better and gave me a good laugh when I thought I couldn’t laugh at all.”
A Lasting Legacy on Social Media
Gamer Grandma first went viral in 2019 with a video titled “Me roasting marshmallows by the campfire.” She later became known for gaming clips, Gen Z-style humour, and heartfelt videos that resonated with millions.
Her presence on TikTok grew to more than 2.4 million followers, cementing her place as one of the platform’s most unique and cherished creators.
