Jim Bob Duggar Not Dead: Facebook Hoax Exposed

Viral Post Falsely Claimed He Had Widespread Cancer.

Share

A viral Facebook post falsely claimed that Jim Bob Duggar, the reality TV star from Counting On and 19 Kids and Counting, had died. The post appeared on a fan page called The Duggar Family and included what looked like an obituary announcement.

The post read: “R..I.P!!! ‘Counting on’ Beloved old dad Jim Bob has taken his last breath after a long battle with cancer. He passed away at the age of 60. Don’t pass by without offering your condolences to the Duggar family.”

However, no official statement from the Duggar family or credible news outlets has confirmed his death. The alleged obituary even misspelled the family’s name, making the claim even more questionable.

No Evidence Supports the Hoax

There is no verified information suggesting Jim Bob Duggar has passed away. The rumor appears to be fueled entirely by social-media speculation.

Several Facebook users commented directly under the post, debunking it themselves.
One wrote: “He didnt die lol.”

Another joked: “The only thing dead on him is his fashion sense.”

Others left condolences, believing the hoax to be true, until more users clarified: “Not true he is alive.”

Earlier Fake Claim Alleged Cancer Diagnosis

Before the death hoax, an earlier post from November 10 claimed that Duggar had been diagnosed with advanced cancer that had “spread throughout his body.”

The post said: “Sad News!!! ‘Counting On’ Jim Bob Duggar has been diagnosed with cancer that has spread throughout his body. He is facing the toughest battle of his life. His fans are deeply saddened and praying for his speedy recovery and strength to get through this difficult time.”

There has been no confirmation from the family about any cancer diagnosis.

Jim Bob Duggar Latest Update Shows He’s Active and Well

The rumors appear entirely false. In fact, in an interview from November 12—two days after the fake cancer claim—Duggar family members openly discussed Jim Bob’s thoughts on the family’s future growth, with no mention of illness.

On The Jinger and Jeremy Podcast, Jinger Duggar and her husband Jeremy Vuolo read an email from Jim Bob, where he calculated potential future descendants:

Jeremy quoted Jim Bob saying: “So this is assuming that every grandchild has five kids and then all of their grandchildren have five kids. So that’s assuming a lot. But listen to how quickly it adds up. In 14 generations, there could be 24 billion Duggar descendants.”

The clip was shared on Instagram, further confirming that Jim Bob is alive and actively engaging with his family.

A Growing Family, Not a Tragedy

Jim Bob Duggar and his wife Michelle are parents to 19 children, with 40 grandchildren and counting. Nothing in recent interviews or family updates indicates any health crisis, let alone a death.

The circulating posts are false, and fans are encouraged to verify information before sharing social-media rumors.
