Jackie Chan Death Rumors Spread on Social Media

Viral Facebook Hoax Claims Jackie Chan Has Died.

Share

A viral Facebook post published on November 10, 2025, falsely claimed that beloved action star Jackie Chan had died from complications after an on-set injury.

The post, shared by a page called Stories About US, included a doctored image of the actor lying in a hospital bed along with a fabricated caption mourning his so-called passing. It even featured fake quotes attributed to his wife, Joan Lin.

“Today, the most beloved person in world cinema, all of our hearts, has passed away, a worthy actor, a great Kung Fu master, the man with the funny laugh, Jackie Chan,” the post read.

Jackie Chan Is Alive and Well

Contrary to the viral claims, Jackie Chan, 71, is alive and in good health. The Rush Hour and Karate Kid star, whose real name is Fang Shilong, recently appeared at the International Poetry and Wine Culture Conference in Luzhou, China, on November 2, 2025.

There, Chan performed his song “Country” and was honored with the 1573 International Poetry Prize.

He also continues to work actively in the film industry — his latest movie, The Shadow’s Edge, dominated the China box office in August 2025, reaffirming his lasting popularity and influence in global cinema.

Fans React as Fake News Spreads Online

The false news spread rapidly across Facebook, leading to widespread confusion and concern among fans. However, the hoax was quickly debunked by fact-checkers and confirmed false by Chan’s representatives.

This isn’t the first time Jackie Chan’s death rumors have circulated online — similar hoaxes have resurfaced nearly every year, often going viral before being disproven.

Fans expressed both frustration and relief on X (formerly Twitter) after learning the truth.

One fan wrote: “Had to come to Twitter because Facebook is spreading a lie that Jackie Chan passed away.”

Why Jackie Chan Death Hoaxes Keep Returning

Experts say celebrity death hoaxes tend to spread because they exploit fans’ emotions and generate massive engagement on social media. False stories like these are often used by clickbait pages to drive traffic or gather followers.

Despite the ongoing misinformation, Jackie Chan remains one of the most respected and beloved figures in entertainment, known not just for his action films but also for his humanitarian work and cultural influence.
