WhatsApp is rolling out a new iOS update that improves the group calling experience on the popular messaging app. Previously, the Meta-owned chat app increased the total number of group call participants to 32, allowing more users to join a call.

Previously, users could only invite 15 group members to join a call. According to details shared by a feature tracker, users should be able to invite up to 31 group participants to join a call after installing the latest WhatsApp for iOS version.

According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, the most recent stable version of WhatsApp for iOS 23.22.72 includes one major change: the ability to start a group conversation with up to 31 members. The app’s changelog does not specifically mention the increased limit on calling group members, but it does contain other recently added features and functions.

With the latest update, WhatsApp now allows its users to start a group call with up to 31 members, making it easier to start a group call than in previous versions of the app. Previously, you could only initiate a group call with up to 15 people, however, other people could join the call manually.

Over the last few weeks, WhatsApp has been rolling out new features such as the ability to log in with multiple accounts on the same smartphone and support for passkeys on Android. Users with two phone numbers will be able to sign up for WhatsApp with their second number using the same app for the first time.

Additionally, WhatsApp for Android is making it much easier for users to log back in with support for passkeys and their fingerprint – a secure type of authentication aimed to remove the usage of passwords and use public key cryptography to protect user information.

Passkey support has begun to roll out on Android, and the feature integrates with Google’s password manager – no word on whether this feature will be accessible on iOS in a future update.
