Adobe recently launched its Firefly platform as a mobile application for both Android and iOS. The new Firefly app includes all of Adobe’s native AI models, along with third-party models from Google and OpenAI.
It provides access to AI features and tools found across Adobe’s various platforms, including capabilities for generating images and videos, as well as editing photos. The company is offering a limited number of complimentary credits to users on the free tier, while paid subscribers will receive credits based on their respective plans.
In a blog post, the software giant based in San Jose, California, announced the introduction of the Firefly app for both Android and iOS platforms. The company stated that this new application will enable users to create and modify their projects utilizing AI features from any location. Importantly, all creations made within the app are automatically synchronized with the user’s Creative Cloud account.
The Firefly app provides users with the ability to generate both images and videos. For image generation, users have the option to utilize Adobe’s Firefly Image 3, Image 4, and Image 4 Ultra, or Google’s Imagen 3 and 4, or even OpenAI’s GPT Image models. When it comes to video generation, users can use Firefly Video or Google’s Veo 2 model. Additionally, users have the capability to create videos from images as well.
When it comes to photo editing, Adobe provides its Generative Fill feature, which can eliminate objects or incorporate new elements using AI, along with Generative Expand, which enlarges images by adding extra information based on user prompts. Importantly, if users have initiated a project on their desktop, they can seamlessly continue working on it in the app as long as it is saved in their Creative Cloud.
Individuals who do not hold a subscription are restricted to 10 generative credits each month, whereas those with a Creative Cloud or Firefly credit subscription can utilize them to access the features.

For those who may not know, generative credits function as tokens for using the AI features. Features that rely on smaller models, like photo editing tools, require fewer credits than those that create images and videos from the ground up.
In a separate announcement, Adobe revealed that its Firefly Boards platform now includes video functionality. Currently in public beta, this AI-driven collaborative moodboarding tool allows users to remix uploaded video clips and create new video content. These features utilize the company’s Firefly Video Model, along with Google’s Veo 3, Luma AI’s Ray2, and Pika 2.2 text-to-video models.
