Shooting at Augusta Mall Leaves Three Injured

An active shooter incident was reported at Augusta Mall in Georgia on Tuesday afternoon, with early reports indicating multiple people may have been injured. Emergency services received calls just before 1:25 pm local time, as witnesses reported hearing three gunshots and seeing up to three victims.

By 1:55 pm, medical crews had removed two stretchers from the scene, while a third stretcher was seen outside the Barnes & Noble store.

Current Status

Authorities confirm three people were shot, with one reported unconscious. The shooter has been arrested, and the mall remains on lockdown as investigations continue.

Authorities Respond and Area Cordoned Off

Law enforcement quickly cordoned off the area near Barnes & Noble, according to local outlet News 12. A woman reported that her daughter’s co-workers at the Earthbound store said the shooting occurred near the escalators on that side of the mall.

Deputies from Richmond County confirmed that two people are in custody following the shooting. Responding officers arrived at the mall on Wrightsboro Road. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook:

“PLEASE AVOID THIS AREA – for your safety and as you could interfere with the work of the deputies.”

Shooter Spotted at Multiple Stores

Reports suggest the shooter was first seen at American Eagle before fleeing into a Bath & Body Works store. Shoppers and staff described chaotic scenes as businesses went into lockdown.

  • Employees at Great American Cookies said they sheltered in place without witnessing the shooting.
  • Customers at the Apple Store were ushered to the back and told to hide.
  • By-standers were reported to have performed CPR on one of the victims.

Police instructed employees and shoppers to remain in lockdown while the investigation continued.
