A brush fire that ignited near a hotel along the 15 Freeway on Sunday afternoon, July 6, has led to an arson investigation. The Escondido fire erupted around 2:30 PM, prompting a rapid response from firefighters to the 200 block of La Terraza Boulevard in Escondido, California, right next to the SpringHill Suites Hotel and close to Interstate 15 and W Valley Parkway.

Firefighters successfully contained the brush fire to half an acre, preventing it from spreading further, as reported by police according to Fox 5. The Escondido Police Department has confirmed that an investigation into potential arson is currently underway.

Residents in the area have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Meanwhile, local authorities are working to ensure the safety of the community as they continue their investigation.

What We Know So Far

The investigation began after police received reports of a suspicious vehicle in the vicinity, as stated by the Times of San Diego. Officers responded to a call about this unusual vehicle near 200 La Terraza Blvd, shortly before reports of the vegetation fire emerged, according to OnScene.TV.

Due to the fire’s proximity to the SpringHill Suites and other nearby structures, firefighters upgraded the response to a second alarm. Police are actively searching for the vehicle and its occupants, as part of the ongoing investigation into the Escondido fire.

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the vehicle or its occupants to come forward. The community remains on high alert as firefighters continue to tackle the blaze and ensure the safety of local residents.
