A car fire at the Lincoln Tunnel in New Jersey caused significant traffic delays in both New York and New Jersey on Tuesday afternoon. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the tunnel management reported, “The Tunnel to New York has a delay of 60 minutes due to a car fire.”

Fortunately, drivers trapped in the tunnel shared that it has since reopened following the incident.

A video from a driver who was stuck in the Lincoln Tunnel for over an hour demonstrated that traffic has begun to move.

New Jersey Transit (NJT) announced on X that bus services going in and out of New York’s Port Authority Bus Terminal are experiencing a 45-minute delay.

NJT confirmed that bus tickets and passes are being cross-honored across the entire system, including by the NJT rail service, NY Waterway at the Port Imperial terminal, and the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) train service.
