Two people were injured and one suspect was taken into custody after a shooting in a Fife motel parking lot early Thursday morning, July 10. At 1:17 AM, Fife police responded to reports of gunfire at the Motel 6 located in the 5200 block of 20th Street. Officers from the Milton Police, Puyallup Tribal Police, and Pierce County Sheriff’s Office assisted the patrol officers on the scene, according to Fife Police Department Assistant Chief Doug Newman.
Initial Response and Investigation
Newman stated that law enforcement set up a containment area to assess the situation. Officers from the Tacoma Police Department notified Fife police that two individuals had sustained gunshot wounds. Initially, authorities detained as many as five people at the motel. The investigation revealed that one of those detained was the suspect, who was subsequently arrested.
“So, originally we were able to say five into custody. Detectives were able to determine that four were investigative leads and they have since been released after being interviewed. One has been arrested,” Newman explained.

Condition of the Victims
Both victims are male and are currently in critical condition at a local hospital. According to KOMO News, both individuals are undergoing surgery.
