White House Bomb Scare: Suspicious Package Triggers Investigation

Emergency crews, including the Bomb Squad, are actively investigating a suspicious package discovered near the White House, leading to multiple street closures in the area. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the vicinity until further notice.

Background on Recent Incidents

This latest incident follows a previous scare in June, when several buildings near the White House were evacuated due to a suspicious vehicle sighting. After a thorough investigation, officials determined there was no threat, and the area was declared safe.

Official Statements

Fox 5 DC journalist Allison Papson quoted a U.S. Secret Service spokesperson, stating, “The Secret Service Uniformed Division and Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) investigated a suspicious vehicle at 15th and F Street, NW. As a precaution, road closures were implemented in the area. The MPD’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team responded and declared the scene as safe. All road closures have been lifted.”

Current Situation

As of now, the suspicious package was found on Sunday, leading to a swift response from the bomb squad. Specialists from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit were deployed to investigate the object.

Restricted Access

According to The Daily Mail, officers cordoned off the area, restricting both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. The Secret Service later confirmed that the package was located just outside the security perimeter near the executive mansion. Following a detailed inspection, authorities eventually gave the all-clear.
