Colombia Plane Crash: Singer Yeison Jiménez Feared Dead

A small private aircraft crashed near the town of Paipa in Colombia’s Boyacá department on Saturday, leaving several people dead. Regional music singer Yeison Jiménez was reportedly among those traveling on the aircraft, according to local media reports.

Emergency services confirmed multiple fatalities at the scene, but authorities have not formally identified the victims. Colombian officials said investigations are ongoing and identities will be confirmed through official channels.

What Happened Near Paipa Airport

Local media reported that the charter aircraft departed from Paipa airport in central Colombia and crashed shortly after take-off. The plane reportedly came down in a field close to the end of the runway after failing to gain altitude.

Officials have not yet released a formal statement detailing the cause of the crash or the exact number of casualties.

Reports Link Yeison Jiménez to the Crash

Colombia’s El Tiempo newspaper cited initial information suggesting that those killed may include Yeison Jiménez and five other people believed to be members of his musical team. Authorities, however, have not officially confirmed the identities of the passengers.

Reaction and Ongoing Investigation

Tributes began appearing on social media following reports of the singer’s death. One local journalist wrote on X that sources had confirmed the passing of Yeison Jiménez, describing him as a major figure in Colombian popular music.

Other posts cited local media claims that the aircraft was destroyed by fire after impact and that five other people traveling with the singer were also believed to have died. Authorities have yet to confirm these details and said the investigation remains active.
