Christian Barmore Charged With Domestic Assault in Massachusetts

Christian Barmore, a defensive tackle for the New England Patriots, has been charged with domestic assault, according to court documents filed at Attleborough District Court.

The 26-year-old faces one count of assault and battery on a family or household member, a misdemeanor offense, in connection with an alleged incident that occurred in Mansfield on August 8.

Details of the alleged incident

According to charging documents, the alleged victim had been in a relationship with Barmore. She told police the two argued over the temperature of the air conditioning in Barmore’s bedroom and over food.

Court records state the woman alleged that Barmore took her phone from her hands as she attempted to leave the house. The documents further say she reported that she “intended to open the door and scream for help but Christian grabbed her before she could and threw her to the floor.”

She also alleged that Barmore grabbed her shirt “in the area of the neck” as she tried to stand up, before eventually letting her go.

Charge proceeds despite victim’s request

Court filings show that on December 4 the woman emailed police stating she did not wish to proceed with charges. Despite that request, a criminal complaint was issued on December 16.

Barmore is scheduled to be arraigned on February 3, 2026 — five days before Super Bowl LX.

Context within the Patriots organization

The charge comes a day after Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs attended a motion hearing related to allegations that he attacked his personal chef on December 2.

The Patriots are scheduled to play the Miami Dolphins on Sunday in their final regular-season game. New England currently holds the No. 2 seed in the AFC as the playoffs approach.

The availability of both Barmore and Diggs for the game and the postseason remains unclear.

Team response and prior incidents

Head coach Mike Vrabel is expected to address the media at his weekly press conference on Wednesday at 13:10 local time.

Barmore was previously cited in Providence, Rhode Island, in 2024 for operating an unregistered vehicle, driving with an expired registration, and license plate issues. He initially accused police officers of racism before later issuing an apology.

He was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the NFL Draft in 2021 and was diagnosed with blood clots during the 2024 season.
